Production Lead
Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems and knows how to get the best out of a team?
We’re looking for a motivated Production Lead to join our team in Te Puke and help keep our packhouse operations running safely, smoothly and efficiently all year round.
This is a key role in our packhouse, helping make sure our people, machinery and daily production work well together. You’ll work closely with the Packhouse Manager and Production Coordinators to keep things running smoothly, solve problems and help our team do their best work.
What you’ll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting the production team to get the job done well.
- Helping plan daily work and making sure packing targets are met.
- Making sure fruit moves through the packhouse smoothly and efficiently.
- Helping the team get the best results from our grading machines and other equipment.
- Working with the maintenance team to fix problems quickly and reduce downtime.
- Training new operators and helping team members build their skills.
- Making sure work areas and machinery are kept clean, tidy and well cared for.
- Keeping the Packhouse Manager up to date with production, equipment issues and any concerns.
- Looking for ways to improve how we work and helping put good ideas into action.
What will you bring?
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes responsibility and is happy to roll up their sleeves when needed.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience in production, manufacturing, packing or a similar operational environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach and motivate others.
- A practical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- An understanding of machinery, production efficiency and minimising downtime.
- A commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- The ability to stay calm and think clearly when things get busy.
- A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to get stuck in.
Experience in a kiwifruit packhouse or working with grading machines and automated equipment would be an advantage, but having the right attitude and leadership skills is just as important.
Why join DMS?
At DMS, you’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, initiative and continuous improvement. You’ll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on production performance, develop your leadership skills and contribute to outcomes that matter to our growers.
With a permanent, year-round position, you’ll be part of the operation across the main kiwifruit season, repack and beyond.
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive pay
- Southern Cross Health Insurance
- DMS Day and other company benefits
- The opportunity to develop your skills and grow with an expanding business
