Reporting to the Site Quality Manager, you’ll be responsible for monitoring, sampling, and recording product quality to ensure every tray of fruit leaving our packhouse meets the highest DMS, Zespri, and NZ Avocado standards. You’ll work closely with production, grading, and packing supervisors to maintain consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.

This is a fast-paced role that requires a sharp eye, sound judgement, and strong teamwork—especially during the busy harvest season.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carry out sampling and monitoring of kiwifruit and avocados to meet DMS, Zespri, and NZ Avocado standards.
  • Communicate quality results clearly with production, grading, and packing supervisors.
  • Support the site team to achieve quality, grade, and reject-rate targets.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with BRC, Zespri, and AsureQuality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and help maintain a safe working environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to seasonal staff, setting the standard for quality and teamwork.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience as a Quality Controller or in a similar quality-focused role.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Effective time management and ability to work under pressure during peak season.
  • A positive, energetic, and can-do attitude.
  • Flexibility with working hours during the harvest period (March–June).

Preferred:

  • Experience within the kiwifruit or avocado industry.
  • Knowledge of Class 2 systems and Avocado quality standards.
  • CCP 2–5 qualifications (or working toward them).

Why Join DMS?

  • Supportive team culture – you’ll be part of a friendly, professional crew that values teamwork and respect.
  • Great industry reputation – work with a top-performing post-harvest business that’s locally owned.
  • Competitive pay and benefits, including health insurance and bonus opportunities.
  • Career growth – gain valuable industry experience and ongoing development in quality and compliance.
