The Role

We’re looking for an organised, people-focused Staffing Coordinator to join our Te Puna Packhouse team.

This is a fast-paced and hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll work closely with Production Coordinators, Supervisors, the Packhouse Manager, Payroll, and HR to ensure staffing requirements are met across all shifts while supporting a positive and engaged workplace culture.

You’ll play a key role in onboarding and supporting seasonal staff, coordinating shift staffing, monitoring attendance, assisting with training requirements, and helping supervisors manage staffing matters professionally and efficiently.

If you enjoy working with people, solving problems on the go, and thrive in a busy operational environment, this could be the perfect role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

Coordinate daily staffing requirements across packhouse operations.

  • Review staffing levels before shifts start and communicate shortages or absenteeism concerns promptly.
  • Update rosters and shift sheets as required to support operational needs.
  • Support onboarding and induction of new seasonal employees, including training coordination and introductions to Supervisors.
  • Monitor time and attendance records to ensure staff hours are accurate and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assist staff with queries relating to attendance, clocking, payroll, and general employment matters.
  • Support Supervisors with staffing issues, workplace concerns, and team communication.
  • Help maintain accurate training records, SOPs, and seasonal staffing documentation.
  • Promote staff engagement initiatives, attendance activities, and a positive team culture across the site.
  • Assist production teams when operational support is required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling staff information.
  • Ensure health, safety, housekeeping, and BRC standards are consistently followed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience in staffing coordination, administration, HR support, or workforce planning.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse workforce.
  • Close attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and time & attendance systems.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to jump in and help where needed.
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours during peak seasonal periods.

Preferred

  • Experience within the kiwifruit, horticulture, manufacturing, or seasonal industries.
  • Experience with payroll, HRIS, or attendance systems.
  • Experience supporting large seasonal workforces.

Why Join DMS?

  • Supportive team culture – work alongside experienced leaders and passionate teams.
  • Career growth opportunities within a well-respected horticultural business.
  • Competitive remuneration package including health insurance and additional staff benefits.
  • Be part of an industry-leading business that values people, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
